Grapefruits, Lemons and Limes

These are great fruits to keep around during the summer to keep you cool and give you plenty of vitamin C.  Eat a grapefruit mid-morning or at lunch.  In the afternoon, cut a lemon or lime in half.  I use 1/2 a lemon or lime, but some may like a whole one during the day.  Squeeze the juice into your water, add a pinch of sea salt to taste.  Sea salt has trace minerals.  It's not like table salt.  Your body utilizes all the minerals in the sea salt.  Don't forget to eat the pulp of the lemon or lime.  Remember, eat the whole food because it is packaged with all the nutrients that work synergistically.

All 3 of these fruits are loaded with vitamin C.  This is a great way to keep your immune system boosted all summer long!

Great question Summer! I have been thinking about your question and did a little research. Yes, it seems that if a person sucks on lemons and limes a lot the acid does eat away the enamel. But like everything else, if done occassionaly, shouldn't be a problem.

My research indicates there are some who get addicted to eating the lemons, or even the vit. C powder to the point of having to have thousands of dollars of dental work done.

So, if you still want the lemon, I have seen it suggested to squeeze the juice from the lemon into water and sip through a straw to have as little contact with the teeth as possible.

On a PH scale, lemons and limes rank near battery acid as for how acidic they are. Sodas rank very close also.

If you need to quit the lemons, there are numerous other fruits and veggies full of vit. C. Good luck!
